Flying a drone is a hobby that has grown in popularity over the years, and many uses have been found for these little marvels of engineering. This drone, on the other hand, manages to be a more versatile alternative to the ones currently on the market. In fact, it can fulfill multiple roles without any issue. The drone comes with an HD camera, which can take high-quality pictures at high altitudes, as well as shoot video scenes in places and at angles that regular cameras simply cannot reach. If the camera is taken off of the drone, it can then take on activities that are of a bit more leisurely nature, such as racing, aeronautical stunts, and even general flying just for fun.

Introducing The DoxieBall Admit it, when you throw wadded up paper at the trash can, you pretend you’re the greatest player the NBA has ever seen. You fist pump the air when you make it, and you look around nervously to make sure one saw you when you miss. If it…
Hidden, portable cameras could be used at public events such as political rallies without detection. Boghardt notes that the Spy Museum’s director Peter Earnest, who worked for many years in the CIA on intelligence, has used one of these cameras.
Disrupting communications is essential for carrying out the kind of chaos that covert operations demand, and thankfully in our increasingly wireless world much of that communication is done over cell phone. We’ve been able to interfere with those signals for some time, but there are hand-held devices that let you blow out 4G / 3G / 2G / GPS transmissions in your vicinity with the press of a button.
In the 1960s, the East German foreign intelligence service HVA issued this tiny camera, which takes photos of documents and uses a chemical process to shrink the text down so that a block of text appears no bigger than a period. This way agents could hide secret messages in plain sight. Boghardt points to an infamous incident involving microdots: Dusko Popov, a double agent during World War II, gave microdots to the FBI that mentioned German interest in Pearl Harbor. FBI director J. Edgar Hoover didn’t trust Popov, however, so he never passed the information to president Franklin D. Roosevelt.
Breathalyzers are fine, but the Skyn band tracks your blood-alcohol content in real time and proves to you that you’re a lightweight. I’m not sure you could read that screen after a few too many, though.
Even in our own homes, it’s amazing how many toxins and chemicals (and dust, of course) can be found in the air around us. It’s actually terrifying, so I recommend you don’t Google any of the statistics. With that being said, one of the cool gadgets for men (and women) that we love is this Awair Smart Air Quality Monitor. It analyzes the air quality around you, monitoring things like carbon dioxide, toxic chemicals, and dust, as well as temperature and humidity (although, admittedly, you don’t really need the two latter since those are things you can typically just feel). Still, it hooks up to an app on your smartphone, and will send you alerts when the quality of air changes. It’s like a high-tech carbon dioxide monitor that also does a ton of other monitoring for you. And, it has an LED on the front for a quick snapshot of the air quality around you. Want to impress your friends with a futuristic-looking gadget? The Awair monitor is a great choice.

Acer had me at $9,000 gaming laptop (that’s about £7,300 or AU$12,400). But it also has a ginormous 21-inch curved screen — the first in a laptop — and an eye-tracking camera. Of course, it has nine heat pipes to cool the two GeForce GTX 1080 GPUs and two power supplies, four speakers and two subwoofers, plus it weighs 19.4 pounds (8.8 kg).
Segway has definitely made a name for itself over time, having popularized the idea of a personal transportation device that has since caught the imagination of many. This time around, Segway Robotics has launched an Indiegogo campaign for Loomo, which is the first mobile robot sidekick in the whole world. Sounds pretty cool, right? Well, the Loomo is actually a smart machine that toggles functions between a mini personal transporter and mobile robot sidekick, and it is now up for pre-order on Indiegogo. There is a limited early bird pricing that will begin from $1,299, which means you will not be able to get it any cheaper in the future.
Notion is a home intelligence system that was recently funded on Kickstarter that uses a small, smart, multi-function sensor to detect quite a significant number of things in your home: a water leak, when a door/cabinet opens and closes, temperature and sound. When any of these things are detected, Notion will send a message to your smartphone (works with both iOS and Android). For example, if you place a Notion on your front door, it can tell you if someone knocks, if the door is opened, or if it doesn’t get shut. Its potential uses are incredible. If you put it on, say a liquor cabinet, it can tell you when that cabinet is opened. It also has a temperature sensor and can tel you if your house is getting too hot or too cold when you’re away from home. It isn’t yet available, but it is expected to ship in July.
The Gamer: Just as Apple has creative professionals cornered, Alienware is a dominant force in the gaming industry. Really, if you’re not going to build a custom PC yourself, there’s not much better out there. This one features a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 graphics card, an AC wireless card (for cable-free online gaming), 8 gigs of memory, and a beastly 1 terabyte hard drive.
Sony took one of our favorite LCD TVs of 2017 and supersized it. The monstrous 85-inch X900F sticks with its predecessor’s full-array local dimming LED backlight and adds Dolby Vision high dynamic range compatibility.
Not everyone has pets to lie on their feet and keep them toasty. So Sleep Number made a bed that knows when you’ve got cold feet and turns heat on at the bottom of the bed. In theory, the mattress changes its Sleep Number settings to compensate for changes in position and while it can’t stop someone snoring, if it senses you are, it raises your head to reduce your volume.

For the person in your life with FOMO, the multi-award-winning FVP-5000T includes the new “Freeview Play” service, which allows you to record four programmes while you watch a fifth. It’s all streamed over Wi-Fi so you can do away with those pesky ethernet cables. What’s not to love?

I’ve reached a point in my life where I worry a lot! Sure, I worry about my soon-to-be-teenaged daughter, I worry about my health, and of course, the well being of my parents. There are a million ways to keep tabs on my kid, and I tend to be pretty responsible about myself… but my parents are never going to wear one of those “alert” necklaces, nor are they going to take kindly to my checking up on them… Continue reading » Evermind – Love and Caring from a Distance
The all-electric FF91 Future, shown here in the Stealth Combat finish, looks seriously cool, is autonomous-ready and, according to Faraday, goes from 0 to 60 in 2.39 seconds — which would make it the fastest-accelerating SUV in the world.
